Leveraging our generic Cloud management solution and Edge gateway as the foundation for this platform, we collaborated closely with the customer to incorporate custom features, creating a unique solution tailored to their market requirements.

The Edge gateway device, which communicates with the Cloud via LTE, localizes tasks to reduce cloud interaction and lower cellular data consumption. Apart from engineering development, Caribou also assumed responsibility for operations support, ensuring the overall health and uptime of the fleet.

Caribou's involvement spans various aspects, including customizing the Android Framework to meet the customer's specific requirements, developing and maintaining multiple Android applications and monitoring tools, overseeing fleet health, analyzing issues, and providing comprehensive reports. We also provide consulting services for hardware selection, evaluation, and validation, in addition to implementing Linux middleware and applications.

As the product line expanded, we created hardware and firmware for HID RFID cards to control the locks and made them IoT compatible. We designed and produced an Edge Gateway, connecting lock clusters to the management portal for centralized control.

Our team customized OpenWRT Linux and implemented edge-based applications for gateway processing and cloud interaction limitations. The management portal, tailored to the customer's environment, uses Java-based Play framework, AngularJS, HTML5.0, and CSS3.0, with MongoDB for the database. HTTPS and MQTT facilitate communication. Our microservice-based architecture allows flexible vertical and horizontal scaling, offering an intuitive interface for lock management and comprehensive statistics and reports.

Caribou designed the hardware and implemented firmware for a microcontroller-based testbed. This testbed swiftly tested each component, delivering results on an LCD display in less than a minute. This innovation significantly reduced time, effort, and costs for the customer.

We developed various testbed versions to accommodate the customer's new chipsets. The Caribou IOT platform was utilized for remote monitoring and control of testers on production lines. These testers were cloud-connected, enabling real-time monitoring of test pass/fail rates, assessment of tester throughput, and analysis of ASIC failure trends by the head office operations staff.

• Replace manual chip testing process, which took about an hour to test, with microcontroller based test bed which outputs results in less than 1 min.

Caribou played a pivotal role in the development of the entire Android application. We were involved from the initial concept and design stages through to the successful launch of the application on the Google Play Store. Our responsibilities included the creation, refinement, and implementation of the application's core features, ensuring it met the needs and expectations of users.

Additionally, we actively engaged with customers, addressing and resolving any issues they reported while using the application. From the very inception, Caribou has served as the Solutions Partner that involved the deployment of off-the-shelf commercial Android tablets. We developed a specialized kiosk mode software to secure these tablets, effectively preventing students from engaging in unapproved activities.

Caribou created an intuitive, patented, single step process for the enrollment of the users to the tablet using QR code technology.

As tablet numbers surged, we took a central role in choosing an OEM partner to switch from off-the-shelf tablets to custom Enterprise tablets. Our responsibilities encompassed the customization of the Android Framework to align with the specific demands of the K-12 education solution. Our primary focus areas included ensuring user privacy and the imposition of appropriate usage restrictions.

As the customer base for this educational solution expanded, we undertook the development and implementation of a comprehensive device-side Remote Management Solution. This solution facilitated the remote onboarding, management, and troubleshooting of tablets, ensuring efficient operation.

Besides development, Caribou played a critical role in quality assurance, conducting daily regression tests and classroom simulations to identify usability issues.

Later, we added features and maintained the custom Cloud solution, conducting comprehensive quality assurance for the entire solution, including both tablet and Cloud components, ensuring ongoing success.
